Community

We are extremely grateful to receive dedicated support from community groups who each in their own way raise funds and increase awareness of The Hospital Research Foundation and the world-class research it supports. Their selfless acts of philanthropy help us in our mission to raise vital funds for medical research.

Community Support Cancer Research

Maria Giannoudis and her husband Chris have held annual cancer support dinners to raise money for cancer research since 2001. After surviving cancer herself, Maria decided she wanted to do something that would help others with the disease. Each year they raise significant funds through ticket sales, auctions and a prize raffle with extensive support from the local Greek community and businesses. During their fundraising years, the Giannoudis’ have purchased a Biorad CFX 96 Real Time PCR machine worth $42,000, which will assist in vital cancer research. They also help fund research by the head of the Breast Cancer Research Unit and Michell McGrath Breast Cancer Fellow Professor Andreas Evdokiou.

Community Group Support Charity The Hospital Research Foundation

Another of our loyal community group supporters is headed up by Alexandra Vakisidis who regularly raises money for cancer research through festive carolling at Christmas time and cake stalls held at TQEH.

Alex and her group have been supporting medical research through The Hospital Research Foundation for over 11 years and in this time they have raised over $66,400! Sadly losing a close friend to cancer inspired their initial and continuous support.
